MoveMembers vs SimplyBook, more than just bookings
SimplyBook is a strong, mature booking system for any service business. MoveMembers takes appointments too, and adds what a fitness or martial arts studio needs around them: memberships, classes, belts, a check-in kiosk and native LINE, at a flat price.
For a fitness or appointment studio, MoveMembers does the whole job
Where MoveMembers wins
But a fitness, martial arts or EMS studio needs more than bookings: memberships and packs, class rosters, a check-in kiosk, belts and a shop. MoveMembers covers the appointment side and all of that in one flat-priced app, with native LINE and a Thai interface, and no per-booking limit as your volume grows.
Where SimplyBook wins
SimplyBook is an excellent, mature booking tool for any service business.
MoveMembers vs SimplyBook, compared

| How features are unlocked | Everything in the tier.Messaging, shop, multi-location and multi-currency are included, with no per-feature quota. | A large 'Custom Features' catalog: capabilities are enabled within a per-plan feature quota, so more features can push you to a higher plan. |

| Group classes and capacity | Group classes with capacity, waitlists, a check-in kiosk and a live roster. | Class scheduling exists, but the core is 1:1 and service appointments. |

| Martial arts / belt tracking | Multi-grade and belt tracking, built with Muay Thai and MMA gyms. | Not a fitness or martial arts tool, so no belt or grade tracking. |
| Front desk: check-in and POS | A check-in kiosk and a point-of-sale shop at the counter, with stock. | No gym check-in kiosk or retail point of sale.It is a booking system. |
| Maturity and ecosystem | Newer and focused on fitness.Fewer integrations, but the studio essentials are built in. | Very mature, with a large install base and a big feature and integration marketplace across many industries. |
What each one costs, and when we checked
Our prices come from the pricing page you can read right now. Theirs were recorded from their public pages on 27 August 2026 and are not re-checked automatically: ask them to confirm in writing before you sign.
| Feature | MoveMembers | SimplyBook |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | Free forever, up to 20 active members, with memberships, class packs, check-in and payments in the free tier. | A small free tier, capped by bookings per month rather than by members. |
| How the price is counted | By active members.A busy week costs the same as a quiet one, and a hundred sessions a week costs the same as ten. | By bookings per month, and by how many custom features you switch on, as recorded on 27 August 2026. |
| Published monthly price | Pro $99 and Max $199, flat, everything included. | Roughly $9.90, $29.90, $59.90 and $99.90 by volume band.Genuinely cheap to start. |
| What growth costs | Nothing until you cross a member cap, and the caps are published. | A climb through the bands.A studio running a hundred sessions a week moves up as its volume grows, whatever its revenue. |
| How features are unlocked | Everything in the tier.No per-feature quota, no module to buy. | A custom-feature catalogue with a per-plan quota: switching on more capabilities can push you a tier higher on its own. |
What it costs over a year
The two are priced on different things, which is why a single figure misleads. SimplyBook counts bookings; MoveMembers counts active members. A studio with forty members who each book three times a week produces roughly five hundred bookings a month, which is a volume band there and a single Pro subscription here.
That difference compounds in the direction of growth. Filling classes is exactly what a studio is trying to do, and on a booking-counted plan every success moves the bill. On a member-counted plan the bill moves when the gym grows, which is the moment it can afford it.
Archived and frozen members do not count. MoveMembers prices come from the pricing page; the SimplyBook figure was recorded on 27 August 2026.

Free tier
SimplyBook is genuinely cheaper at low volume, and we would rather say it than pretend otherwise. A handful of one-to-one appointments a week costs about ten dollars a month there. MoveMembers wins only if you also want memberships, class packs and a member portal.
Pro tier
MoveMembers. At this volume the booking bands start climbing and the feature quota bites, while a flat $99 covers memberships, packs, check-in, payments and messaging together.
Max tier
MoveMembers, clearly. A flat price against a volume-tiered one at a hundred sessions a week is not a close comparison, and group-class depth is the whole difference between the two products.
Which should you choose?
Choose MoveMembers if
You run a fitness, martial arts or EMS studio, or a gym, and want appointments AND memberships, class packs, a check-in kiosk, belts, a shop and native LINE in one flat-priced app. You take a high volume of sessions and don't want per-booking limits, and your members live on LINE.
Choose SimplyBook if
You are a pure appointment or booking business outside fitness (salon, clinic, tutoring, wellness), you want the widest booking-feature and integration catalog, or your monthly volume is low enough that its free or cheaper tiers cover you. As a dedicated booking system it is mature and very capable.
What MoveMembers does not do
The first two are the ones worth weighing before anything else. If you run one-to-one sessions for a handful of clients a week and do not sell memberships, SimplyBook does that job at a price we cannot match, and the rest of this page is beside the point.
The moment memberships, class packs, credits, freezes, waitlists and a check-in desk enter the picture, the comparison inverts, because those are not booking features. They are the operation of a gym, and a booking product carries lighter versions of them by design rather than by omission.
A narrower service catalogue.
SimplyBook serves salons, clinics and tutors as well as studios, and its intake forms, service options and provider settings go wider than ours.
A member cap on the free tier, where theirs is capped by bookings instead.
A very low-volume operation is genuinely cheaper there.
No per-service custom-feature catalogue.
Our tiers include everything, which is simpler and is also less granular if you only want two capabilities.
Fewer booking-page customisation options.
Theirs is a booking product first, and its booking page reflects that.
Who each product was built for
SimplyBook was built as an appointment engine for any service business, and that generality is its strength. A clinic, a tutor and a barber all need a bookable calendar with intake questions and reminders, and building one product that serves all three is a real achievement.
Pricing it by booking volume follows from that: bookings are the one unit every one of those businesses shares.
MoveMembers was built for a gym, where the unit is not the booking, it is the MEMBER: someone who pays monthly, trains four times a week, freezes for a month, comes back, and is graded in two disciplines. Counting bookings would price that person four times a week and reward us for a class that empties.
That is why the two pricing models point in opposite directions as a studio grows. Filling classes is exactly what a studio is trying to do; a booking-counted plan bills every success, and a member-counted plan bills only when the gym itself has grown.
Neither is a trick, but only one of them stays aligned with what you are trying to achieve.
Five questions to put to them in writing
A demo answers what the software does. These answer what it will cost you and what happens if you leave, which is what you cannot undo.
- How many bookings does my current volume put me at, and which band is that?
- Which custom features count against the plan quota, and how many do I get?
- Do memberships support freezes, expiry dates and class credits?
- Is there a waitlist and a check-in kiosk for group classes?
- Can I export members, memberships and attendance, and in what format?

SimplyBook vs MoveMembers, answered.
Is MoveMembers or SimplyBook better for an appointment-based studio?
It depends on what else you run. SimplyBook is excellent as a pure booking tool for any service business. MoveMembers now handles appointment-based studios too, with buffers, per-service capacity and single-station exclusivity, and it adds what a fitness studio needs around the booking: memberships and packs, class rosters, a check-in kiosk, belts, a shop and native LINE.
If you are a fitness, martial arts or EMS studio, MoveMembers fits; if you are a salon, clinic or tutor who only takes appointments, SimplyBook may be all you need.
How does pricing compare between MoveMembers and SimplyBook?
The models differ. MoveMembers is flat, $0/$99/$199, priced by active members, with everything included and no per-booking limit. SimplyBook is priced by bookings per month plus a 'custom features' quota; it starts cheap (a small free tier, then roughly $9.9 to $99.9) but climbs as your volume and feature needs grow.
A busy studio with hundreds of monthly sessions often lands on a higher SimplyBook tier, while MoveMembers stays flat.
Does SimplyBook support LINE, memberships or belt tracking?
SimplyBook has no native LINE, and because it is appointment-first, memberships, class packages and belt or grade tracking are lighter or absent. MoveMembers has native two-way LINE, full memberships and packs, and multi-grade belt tracking for martial arts.
Can I move from SimplyBook to MoveMembers?
Yes. Export your clients from SimplyBook and import them, then add your services, which can come in from a CSV file too. Appointments already booked there do not come across, so plan to re-enter the upcoming ones. MoveMembers is self-serve and reports going live the same day, with data export and no lock-in on its side.
Plan a manual transfer and reconnect your payment and LINE or WhatsApp providers; we have not verified a one-click SimplyBook importer.
When is SimplyBook the better choice?
When you are a pure appointment or booking business outside fitness (salon, clinic, tutoring, wellness), when you want the widest booking-feature and integration catalog, or when your monthly volume is low enough that its free or cheaper tiers cover you. As a dedicated booking system, it is mature and very capable.
