Is this the right software for a gym in Cambodia?

Yes when members pay by KHQR through a bank app or by transfer, when staff and members prefer to read Khmer, and when every payment should be attached to a profile. No when you need messages sent on Telegram, or tax invoices produced by the software itself.

Tools made for somewhere else

Gym software is usually drawn up for American or European clubs. In Phnom Penh and Siem Reap the mismatch shows in a few places.

  • A screenshot is the only trace

A member scans a KHQR in a bank app and sends the confirmation over Telegram. The desk then has to work out which booking it belongs to.

  • Screens the desk cannot read at ease

Reception staff and coaches stumble through English-only screens dozens of times a day.

  • Dollars on the menu, riel in the till

Many studios quote in US dollars yet give change in riel. A tool locked to one symbol makes the receipts look wrong.

  • Pricing sized for bigger markets

Tiers built for Western gyms can cost more than one Phnom Penh studio can reasonably carry.

  • Overdue members tracked by memory

A person who stops paying for two months quietly drops off the radar.

What MoveMembers adds

The KHQR members already scan, Khmer screens, and a booking that waits for the money.

Your KHQR as a payment method

Add the KHQR of your business account one time. At reception it appears with the amount next to it; the member pays inside a bank app and replies with the reference, then you confirm. By design this stays manual: no fee is charged and MoveMembers never holds the money.

Khmer for staff and members

Staff screens, the member page and the booking page can all be set to Khmer, and each person makes their own choice.

Hold a seat until it is paid

Enable a single option and a booking stays pending until the payment is confirmed; studios that never enable it carry on as before.

How payments move in a Cambodian studio

Cash at the desk, a KHQR scan, a bank transfer, and a card for the occasional member. Every payment ends up on the same profile.

KHQR with the sum written beside it

Upload your account's KHQR once. The screen then prints the sum in big type beside it, so no figure is retyped, the member pays through a bank app, and the reference comes back by message.

Confirmation stays human, openly

Reception, not the software, clears payments, because MoveMembers has no view of your bank account. A single tap marks a transfer as received once its reference matches, replacing a screenshot and a name guessed from memory.

Each bank app gets its own entry

A payment through one bank and one through another are logged under different names, so a receipt records the app that was used. These are QR codes and labels you maintain, not ready-made connections.

Cash and cards are logged as well

A walk-in paying cash receives a profile and a payment record within a few taps. Cards can run through your own Stripe account where your business may open one; everything else works without it.

No share of what members pay is kept by MoveMembers, whichever route they use.

A receipt in the currency you actually charge

A transfer with no paper trail is the one that gets disputed months later.

  • Choose a prefix and a footer note once in Settings, Finance; every later receipt carries them.
  • Every receipt has a number and a date, names the member and the method, and gives the period covered and the sum paid.
  • The currency is a setting: choose US Dollar ($) from the list, or type ៛ as your own symbol, and all amounts follow.
  • Receipts go out as PDF attachments.

Receipts from MoveMembers prove that a payment reached your studio. They are not tax invoices, which the software does not issue; keep your current tool if you must produce those.

Khmer for the people who use it all day

The owner may be fine in English. The person on reception at six in the morning often prefers Khmer, and opens the software dozens of times a day.

  • Khmer and English are two of the 15 interface languages, and each person chooses theirs.
  • Members read their page, receipts and messages in their own language, not the studio's.
  • The help manual is English only.
  • New numbers start with +855, and the studio clock follows Asia/Phnom_Penh unless you set another time zone.

Email for now, not Telegram

Plenty of members talk to their studio on Telegram. Better you hear this today than after signing up.

  • MoveMembers does not send through Telegram, and there is no connection to it at present.
  • Reminders and receipts go by email on every plan.
  • On Max you can add WhatsApp Business and SMS, sent from your own accounts.
  • If Telegram is your only channel with members, keep it running next to the software for now.

Personal data, and what no software can do for you

Your studio keeps names, numbers, photos, birthdates, payment history and signed waivers. Whatever Cambodian rules ask of you, the first step is knowing exactly what is held.

  • Export your data whenever you like, without going through support.
  • Delete a profile for good, after a grace period you define, in case the wrong person is removed.
  • Look back at who changed what and when, so an altered balance has a name next to it.
  • Set roles (owner, admin, coach, reception) that the server applies, not merely hidden buttons.
  • Protect the reception tablet with personal PINs and the owner login with a second factor.
What the software will not do for you:
  • It will not write your privacy notice.
  • It will not say what you may keep or for how long; ask an adviser about your case.
  • It will not make a studio compliant; accountability for the data stays with the studio.

Software is described here, not legal advice. We are not lawyers, and your duties depend on what you collect and how you use it.

What a studio here usually needs

No module to add later, no per-feature upsell.

  • Your own KHQR and bank transfer entries, each with its own name
  • Khmer screens, member page included
  • A seat held back until payment is confirmed, if you choose
  • Booking with capacity limits and waitlists
  • Memberships, class packs, credits and one-off visits
  • Online card payments through your own Stripe account where available
  • Numbered and dated receipts in dollars or riel
  • A member page in the browser with nothing to install
  • Check-in on a reception tablet
  • CSV import for your member list
  • Export, recoverable deletion and a record of changes
  • A public booking page that search engines can index

Also documented on their own: payments and billing, scheduling and bookings and the member page.

When another tool is the better pick

No tool wins every comparison, and pages claiming otherwise are hard to believe. These are the cases for looking elsewhere.

  • Members can only be reached on Telegram and the software must write to them there. It does not, and we will not claim otherwise.

  • Tax invoices must come out of the same tool. Keep your invoicing software and let MoveMembers handle bookings, memberships and payments.

  • You run branches across several countries on a large vendor's ecosystem. A switch costs time and is worth it only for an obvious gain.

What MoveMembers does not do:

  • Send messages through Telegram.

  • Confirm a KHQR or bank transfer on its own; reception marks it received.

  • Issue tax invoices.

  • Control doors, with no gates and no face scanners.

  • Offer a member app to install; the member page runs in a browser and can sit on the home screen.

Move over, or stay put

Choose MoveMembers if

Your members pay through KHQR or by transfer, your reception team prefers Khmer, and you operate one or two locations. Every payment should sit on a profile, and a booking should wait for the money.

Stay where you are if

Your members live on Telegram and the software must write there, or one tool has to issue your tax invoices as well. Changing software takes time and should follow an obvious gain.

What studios here pay

Your MoveMembers invoice is in baht, on the Southeast Asia price that Thailand also uses. Members pay you in dollars or riel, which is a different matter.

฿0foreverFree · Up to 20 members
฿2,490/moPro · Up to 200 members
฿4,990/moMax · Unlimited members

No charge for the first 20 active members. Pro then costs 2,490 THB monthly up to 200 members, and Max costs 4,990 THB with no ceiling; the yearly plan gives two months free.

Prices shown in THB.

Try it next to your current routine

Import members from a CSV, hold one class in MoveMembers, and check whether the KHQR routine saves reception time. Nothing is switched off, no card is asked for, and the free plan stays free.

Questions from studios in Cambodia.

Can I use KHQR?

Yes, as a payment method of your own making. Add your business account's KHQR with a name; the amount displays beside it, the member sends back the reference, and reception confirms. There is no integration, so MoveMembers never looks inside your bank, yet confirming takes a single tap.

Can I price in dollars or in riel?

A studio has one currency symbol, and amounts and receipts follow it. US Dollar ($) is in the list, and you can type ៛ as a custom symbol. Pick whichever your price list uses.

Is there a Khmer interface?

Yes. Staff screens, the member page, the booking page and automatic messages to members can all be switched to Khmer, and every person selects their own language, with English and others available too. The help manual remains English.

Can members be asked to pay first?

Yes. A booking may stay pending until payment is confirmed, in place of being confirmed immediately. It is a single setting, and studios that ignore it carry on as before.

Which currency does MoveMembers bill in?

Thai baht, on the Southeast Asia price: Free, 2,490 THB a month for Pro and 4,990 THB for Max. What members pay you is set separately, in the currency you choose.

Can I message members on Telegram?

Not at present. Every plan sends reminders and receipts by email. On Max you can add WhatsApp Business and SMS from your own accounts.

Are receipts tax invoices?

No. Each receipt records a payment to your studio, with number, date, member, method and amount. Businesses that must issue tax invoices should keep their usual tool.

Does it follow Cambodian data law?

Software cannot answer that on a studio's behalf. The studio answers for the personal data it keeps; MoveMembers supplies export, deletion and a change history, and the rest depends on your case.

Do members need to install anything?

No. The member page opens in the browser and can be saved to the home screen.

What does a first trial look like?

Import a CSV, set up your KHQR, hold one class and compare it with how you work today. Nothing has to be turned off.

Your members scan a KHQR every day. Point it at their profile.

Start free for up to 20 active members and upload your KHQR this afternoon.
