Give each buyer a code for one free session to pass to a friend, and see who used it and when.

Turn it on for a plan#
Path: Settings › Memberships › a plan › Selling › Comes with a buddy pass.
Switch it on and set in Buddy pass valid for how many days the code can be used after the sale (90 if you leave the field empty, 365 at most). From then on, every sale of that plan creates one code for the buyer: at the desk, online or with Stripe, and each renewal you sell as a new plan.
Plans sold before you switched it on have no code. A plan given free with another plan, a trial session and a file import never create one.
What the code gives#
One free session on any class, used once. Using the code puts a one-session pass on the person's file, valid for the same number of days, and they book it like any other pass. The pass is free and it is not counted as a sale in your reports.
Where the buyer finds the code#
On their file, under Memberships › Buddy pass, with the state of each code. In their member space, under Me › Buddy pass, where they can copy it or share a ready-written message with the booking link. And in a message sent with the sale, called Buddy pass in Settings › Automatic messages, which you can switch off for any channel.
Using a code
At the desk: open the person's file, then Memberships › Buddy pass › Use a code, which needs the Manage memberships permission. The session appears on their file and you book it as usual.
Online: the booking page has an optional Buddy pass code field, and the session is booked straight away with no payment. A signed-in member can also type the code in their member space under Me › Buddy pass, then book as usual.
The message a member shares includes your booking page link with the code already in it, when your studio has a public booking page.
A code is refused with a clear message when it does not exist, was already used, has expired, was cancelled, or is for new visitors only.
Who can use a code
Path: Settings › Memberships › Members can use a buddy pass too.
Off, the default: only people who never had a membership can use a code, so it brings someone new. On: existing members can use a code too, including the one who bought it.
Refunds, and who used each code
Refund a sale in full, cancel its payment or delete it, and a code that has not been used is cancelled. A partial refund keeps it. A code that was already used is never taken back.
Path: Reports › Members › Referrals. A Buddy passes section lists the codes given and used in the period, and each person who used one with the date and whether they were new. The chapter takes the name your studio gives its members.
